First Letters and Phonics App Reviews

This app is a fun way for young children to become familiar with their letters. It encourages recognition and helps them to differentiate between the letter shapes.

My child is 4 and she is able to get on the app with easy and enjoys playing and leaning. It simple and easy to use for her.

Great. I asked them to put in phonics. A few weeks later they released an app. Awesome work! I love the song.

Dissapointed there isnt more to this app. Also purchased First Words. Our daughter prefers this one between the two. Not worth 2 bucks. MAYBE $1. Will most likely delete this one.

I thought this would be an improvement from the other "First Words" apps that my 3 yr old enjoys... (which is all about spelling, not phonics) But its no improvement at all. This doesnt even touch on the double sounds that vowels make. Its really basic letter sounds and matching. Not worth $1.99. Sure, the song is nice at the end, so this game is maybe worth $0.50.

My son is 4 years old, non-verbal autisitc. He loves this app & first words deluxe (same devoloper). Before buying this app he didnt understand matching. It was amazing how it only took him a couple minutes to learn (and I mean literally 2 minutes to learn this game!) Great for learning letters. I hope to see more apps like this... numbers, sorting, etc.... THANKS!!!

My got this app for my daughter when she was 2 and a half. Two years later she still enjoys playing with this app from time to time!

I do not recommend. Too simple. Only one alphabet song, one matching word on each letter. We can find better one for free.

My 3 yr old really enjoys this app! He already loves the alphabet song and when this app contained this song, it brought a big smile to his face. He has played it over and over again. He really seemed to enjoy matching the letters and hearing the different sounds of the animals and such. As a parent, I love the illustrations, they are bright and colorful. I think learning the letters by matching them is a great idea, lots of reinforcement and recognition. Great educational feature. I also love all the options that are available on this app. This app will grow with my child. Great quality app and would highly recommend it..

Wow! I love how you can customize this app to fit your students needs. I would recomend this to teachers and parents with young children learning their letters (both uppercase and lowercase) and sounds that the letters make!! I also love the option where you have blank tiles and the child has to tap on them to find the matches...This will really help my higher level preschoolers!!!

This app has kids matching letters and listening to letter name and sounds. It also plays the alphabet song to a good beat. I like that you can change the settings to have kids presented with how many letters to match at a time. You can also choose to hear the letter name or the phonics sounds. This app is great for 2 or 3 year olds.

This app is great for those just learning their letters. The alphabet song plays as it shows each letter, encouraging letter recognition during the song. The game involves matching identical letters and then provides a word that starts with that letter. In the settings, you are able to change the game to match just lowercase letters, just uppercase letters, or lowercase letters to uppercase letters. You can also set it so it says the letter name or the letter sound. Perfect for the young children, it keeps it simple, but allows for growth development as they are learning their letters. The only change I would like to see would be for the option to hear both the letter name and letter sound during the game.
